Laptop Screen for DIY Projector?
Laptop Screen for DIY Projector?
I've seen all the= DIYs projectors with overhead projectors and stripped LCD monitors. I actu= ally had this setup before I bought my Sanyo projector and it worked great = except I used an older, expensive, real LCD projector. I sold it for $200 t= o help pay for a real projector.
Since I have an old laptop hanging = around, I thought I would investigate and see if laptop screens are transpa= rent and able to be used on overhead projectors the same way as stripped mo= nitors.
Here's what I found...
Yes, but need to buy a compati= ble controller since it exisits on the motherbaord:

"you would have to remove the back casing from the laptop. the lcd sc= reen is really clear, but you have to remove the backlight and other materi= als. its best to use a old computer monitor screen."
"Oh yeah, total= ly. Thing is with the monitor, it's better 'cause it has VGA input alreado,= no need to rewire."

"= On Marktplaats.nl I saw a HP 1502 TFT monitor for 20 euro=E2=80=99s. Cheap = but the screen was not 100% ok. It was described in the ad as an defect bac= klight. Good for this project, because I don=E2=80=99t need the backlight p= art. Good for this project, because I don=E2=80=99t need the backlight part."
