Hallowindow & Rear Projection Animation
Sendling-Ortiz Halloween Fun
Last year on a search for a cheap projector, I saw a very cool Halloween window DVD movie for projecting spooky images in your window.
Since I already have a projector pointed at the front bay window, I decided to look into making one of these for our home that is kid-friendly and not so scary.
YouTube had some awesome ideas (including the Halloween Window).
So, I decided to use Microsoft's PowerPoint, since you can make animation and also include animation/audio/movies. This was soooo much fun to do!!!
========================================
To play PowerPoint on Kodak Wiress Frame:
Need AVI (XVID MPEG-4 Codec)
========================================
This was the most time-consuming process. I tried six different products, both freeware and commerical and nothing worked perfectly.
Smart PPT Converter Standard - Shareware
The only software that worked initially with audio capability was Smart PPT Converter Standard; however, the trial version puts an enourmous watermark on your video output file and the software costs $40-$60. If money wasn't an issue, I would likely buy this one. The only downfall came when I trired to play the AVI on my Kodak frame...it wouldn't recognize it, since it wasn't an Xvid format. Later I noticed that there is a DIVX type when you go into the AVI's settings. There's also a YouTube (AVI) type with DIVX. So, perhaps that'll work. I can't recall which version of DIVX works on my frame, but some DIVX do.
This one did the best job and was the most reliable when it came time to convert audio from the PowerPoint. If the DIVX works on my frame, then I'll surely put it on my wish list.
E.M. PowerPoint Video Converter V2.50 - Freeware
If you don't audio, then E.M. PowerPoint Video Converter was perfect! The trial version only allows MPG, AVI (including XVID), BMP, and MP3 conversion; however, the paid version had so much more conversion capabilities - even for web formats. It does however cost $50 for personal use. Also, there is definitely a bug in the audio conversion - couldn't get it to work no matter what I did. I sent them an email and the email bounced back, so I posted the email on their site's forum.
However, this AVI file instantly played on my frame.
PptMovie 2.2 - Shareware
This handled the video nicely; however, it couldn't recognize my microphone or speakers to record the audio. So, I couldn't get audio with this one either.
The company doesn't have a FAQ or forum, so I emailed them regarding my issue.
Again if audio is unnecessary, then this is great, too. Like EM, I was instantly able to use the AVI (XVID) on my frame. Another plus, was this let you keep the timing of your presentation, unlike EM.
========================================
To play PowerPoint outside with
rear projection in garage: Need DVD
========================================
So, once I have converted my PowerPoint presentation with audio to AVI, MPG, or MP4...
Unable to plug my laptop (only VGA output) to my Sharp Image Wonder Wall projector without an RGB to Composite converter.
Another wish list item, so I can play any format with my laptop and plug into my cheap projector:
So, I need a DVD PowerPoint for a DVD player to connect directly into Wonder Wall's composite video and audio connection.
DVD Video Soft Video To DVD Converter - Freeware
Tried free Video To DVD Converter. WOW...works perfectly! I was able to combine all my video files (MP4, AVI, MPG) and create one DVD. Could burn directly to their own DVD Burner software or leave on hard drive's file system for burning with different software.
To rotate, KMP video transform filter must be enabled. By default, KMP video transform filter is disabled when playing DVD due to the same reason. Also, make sure "Video (Basic)" -> Ignore All Settings is NOT checked.
